Qatar Airways sees record profits in 2016

Doha - Mubasher: Qatar Airways said it reported profits amounted to $103 million in 2015, noting that it expects to see record profits in 2016 on the continuous declines of oil prices, said CEO Akbar Al Baker.

 Al Baker dismissed the national carrier’s intention to issue sukuk or bonds.

The company may go for Initial Public Offering after ten years, elaborated CEO.

“The firm currently eyes new acquisition opportunities in both Europe and Asia,” said Al Baker.

Meanwhile, the company is interested to invest in the Royal Air Maroc, added Al Baker.

He also laid out plans to acquire shares in two other airlines, following the carrier’s $1.7 billion purchase of 10% of British Airways and Iberia owner International Airlines Group (IAG) last year.
